Experience is the most powerful motivator
It’s one thing to tell people that 87% of Canadians will be affected by some form of chronic disease.
It’s another thing to show them what that feels like.
HealthPartners@Work is a mobile information centre that gives your employees the chance to learn what life is like for people living with chronic diseases and other serious illnesses. It combines reliable information from 16 of top Canadian health charities with exercises that simulate the effects of diseases like cystic fibrosis, arthritis, multiple sclerosis and more.
The interactive booth, generally set up for one to three hours, allows visitors to “walk a mile” in the shoes of those suffering from diseases such as Cystic Fibrosis, lung disease, arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis and others. Through active involvement, it demonstrates what people living with chronic disease experience from day to day.
This easy, low-cost event takes very little time commitment, and when publicized in advance, incentivized and planned in conjunction with a company event or kick-off, helps promote campaign awareness among employees. It is also an opportunity for employee volunteerism, and they can help by running the booth and discussing health issues with fellow employees.
We also recommend following up with staff after the event, encouraging discussion about the campaign. Hosting HealthPartners@Work in your workplace helps inspire employees to get involved and engaged with the workplace giving campaign.
