While celebrating our health on the mat on Parliament Hill, HealthPartners launched 5-week campaign starring Canadians’s health
September 21, 2016
HealthPartners wants Canadians to take control of their health; to take small steps that can make a huge difference, including reducing their chances of experiencing some chronic disease. Given that 87% of Canadians are likely to be affected by chronic disease or a major illness in their lifetime, the HealthPartners’ #hpHealthySelfie Challenge is both timely and crucial.
Along with its 16 member national health charities, HealthPartners launched its 5-week challenge on Sept. 21 in conjunction with lululemon athletica’s popular lunchtime “Yoga on the Hill” event.
The #hpHealthySelfie social media challenge is all about building awareness on the importance of getting, and staying, healthy. Over the next five weeks, HealthPartners will challenge Canadians to adopt healthy habits on their own, at home with their families and in the workplace. The challenge will provide them with practical tips, and feature advice from experts on the five important focus areas: hydration, nutrition, physical activity, stress and mental health, as well as sleep and rest.
Eileen Dooley, CEO of HealthPartners, says, “This campaign puts the focus on small steps – simple actions that can have a huge impact in improving our health and reducing our chances of experiencing chronic diseases. When Canadians follow along with us on #hpHealthySelfie we think they will see how easy it can be.”
Canadians are asked to share their personal journey to better health by taking a selfie or video of themselves in action, with their family or work colleagues (#hpHealthySelfie); to like the HealthPartners’ Facebook and Instagram pages (@HealthPartners.PartenaireSanté) or to sign up on HealthPartners’ Twitter feed (@GiveAtWork).
At the launch, Ms. Dooley and a team of volunteers handed out 500 HealthPartners’ water bottles – highlighting the first week’s focus on staying hydrated.
To date, HealthPartners has raised more than $140,000,000 for its 16 of Canada’s most trusted national health charities. These charities provide critical services, invest in research, and provide health prevention and wellness programs in local communities across Canada. Through the GCWCC and other workplace campaigns in the country, employees can choose to have a bigger impact on health – making a bi-weekly donation to HealthPartners will help reduce the effects and put an end to chronic disease. HealthPartners challenges employees across Canada to do that during their charitable campaigns this fall.
