As Chair of the HealthPartners Board of Directors, I wish to share important news about HealthPartners’ leadership. Later this fall, our CEO Kimberley Hanson will be stepping down to pursue a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: helping bring a cure for type 1 diabetes to those who suffer from it, as she joins Breakthrough T1D. I am pleased to share that the Board has appointed Shauna Almas, who has most recently been HealthPartners’ Executive Director, Development, Interim CEO.

HealthPartners is a unique collective representing Canada’s top 20 health charities. Together, we empower Canadian workplaces to host fundraising campaigns that advance research, deliver programs, and lead advocacy efforts around health conditions affecting 9 in 10 Canadians. Over our nearly 40-year history, HealthPartners has raised more than $230 million to support Canada’s leading national health charities.

Since joining HealthPartners, Kim has provided outstanding leadership. She guided the organization through a strategic repositioning, expanded its fundraising programs, strengthened partnerships, and helped realize our vision of a healthier Canada by launching the Health Advisory Network.

On behalf of the Board, I want to acknowledge Kim’s many contributions:

Kim departs HealthPartners with a well-established reputation as a competent and caring leader who sets a clear direction and gets results. While we are sad to see her go, we are grateful for her extraordinary leadership and the lasting impact she has made on our organization. The Board is confident in a smooth transition and in the strength of our staff, volunteers, and supporters to carry forward our mission.

Kim has expressed her gratitude for her time at HealthPartners:

“It has been a great honour to serve this organization and to work alongside such a dedicated team. I know HealthPartners will continue to thrive and support its 20 member health charities in growing their impact on the lives of Canadians.”

The Board of Directors thanks Shauna for taking on the leadership of HealthPartners and has every confidence in her strong leadership. The Board will soon begin the search for the next CEO of HealthPartners. In the meantime, we are focused on ensuring stability and continuity as we undertake this leadership transition.
