Statement by Eileen Dooley, CEO, HealthPartners, for 2019 National Public Service Week

On the occasion of National Public Service Week, HealthPartners wishes to thank federal public servants whose daily work makes such a difference in people’s lives, helping to create healthy workplaces and improve the health of all Canadians, from coast to coast to coast.

Public servants also give back every year through the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign (GCWCC), of which HealthPartners is proud to be an official named recipient. In the National Capital Region alone, that support helps:

  • women with breast cancer have a better quality of life
  • people living with ALS get the equipment they need to manage at home
  • children with arthritis manage their symptoms through exercise programs and summer camps

The generous support of federal public servants also funds ground-breaking research, examples of which are described in our report, More Than Microscopes: The Difference Canadians Make Saving Lives Through Medical Research.

On behalf of HealthPartners, our 16 national health charities and the 87% of Canadians affected by chronic disease and illness, I thank our public servants for their passion, commitment and dedication!
